UCSF Department of Medicine COVID-19 Update Discussion
WHEN: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 12:00-1:00 PM
In this UCSF Medicine Covid Grand Rounds, we’ll speak to two Covid experts – UCSF’s Dr. Annie Luetkemeyer and Prof. John Moore of the Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Luetkemeyer will help us navigate the emerging world of the new oral antivirals for Covid-19 – how they work, what are good use cases, when to use monoclonal antibodies versus the new antivirals, the potential role of fluvoxamine, and how we might integrate these therapies into our Covid-19 arsenal. Next, Prof. John Moore, an internationally known expert on microbiology and immunology, will help us distinguish hype from fact regarding the new Omicron variant in terms of its impact on transmission, immune escape, and severity – and what its emergence is likely to mean for the future course of the pandemic.
Session moderated by Bob Wachter.
Speakers:
Annie Luetkemeyer, MD, is a UCSF Professor of Medicine in the Division of HIV, ID and Global Medicine at ZSFG.
John Moore, PhD, is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Weill Cornell Medical College.
