SFCCC's Vet SOS Program & Partners Save The Day
Gloria’s beloved 12-year-old dog, Rocky, had painful tumors on his backside that were making it hard for him to go to the bathroom; these tumors are most common in older, unneutered male dogs.
Vet SOS' first step was to get Rocky neutered but anesthetizing older dogs for surgery can be risky so we first needed to make sure that Rocky was healthy enough. Our friends at SFSPCA helped by running lab work that our own Dr. Ilana Strubel collected at Vet SOS clinic. Results showed that Rocky was healthy enough to be neutered.
Next, Rocky's tumors needed to be removed. Our friends at Fix Our Ferals agreed to do the surgery at a very reduced rate, but we still needed help with covering the cost of the procedure. More friends from SAGE Compassion Fund for Animals stepped up and provided the grant to make Rocky's surgery possible.
Rocky is now doing well and Gloria continues to bring Rocky to Vet SOS clinics for regular follow-up. Gloria & Vet SOS truly appreciate the many partners that came together to give Rocky a new lease on life! Huge thank you's to Vet SOS volunteer DVM, Dr. Strubel, SFSPCA, Fix Our Ferals, and SAGE Compassion Fund for Animals for coming together in support of Gloria & Rocky!
