Rafiki Coalition 12th Annual Black Health and Healing Summit
Rafiki Coalition for Health & Wellness presents the 12th Annual Black Health and Healing Summit, with the theme Imani: Re-igniting Black Love & Black Joy (Imani means Faith in Swahili). The Summit is a 2-day celebration bringing the community, community-based organizations, and university-based programs together to dialogue, educate, and connect around the inequities in the Black/African American community. Together they synergize for deep community healing and change. In the past two years, they have hosted over 400+ participants, sharing the message that despite having the worst inequities in health, incarceration, violence, income, serial forced displacement, and education there is still an incredible and thriving African American/Black community in San Francisco, and they dare to dream and create more love, joy, peace and harmony in the communities they serve. They believe shifting this narrative and paradigm will also positively impact these inequities.
The Summit kicks off with a community drumming circle on Friday morning. On both days, participants can expect nationally-known dynamic speakers, health symposia, health screenings, local performers and artists, nutritious food, produce/farming information, movement and free therapeutic massage, chiropractic and acupuncture services. Highlights are an outdoor vendor fair with natural health and beauty products and a Pop Up village where attendees can try their hand at making healthy products. Event is for the whole community and for all ages. Families are welcome and encouraged. There will be a children’s area with books, story time, and hands on interactive activities.
