Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment are effective in a variety of settings. It’s has been proven particularly effective in hospital emergency departments and trauma centers with individuals with alcohol-related injuries. SBIRT has also been shown to be effective in primary care settings, where it is incorporated into other routine medical assessments such as measuring blood pressure.

National Health Center Week 2019 - Health Care for the Homeless Day

Street Outreach Services and Veterinary Street Outreach Services (SOS and Vet SOS) is the mobile outreach component of SFCCC’s Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) program. Since 1988, SOS has provided high-quality, nonjudgmental health services directly to homeless people in places where they live and congregate. Although all health centers provide care to low-income people, the HCH program provides targeted funding to expand care in order to meet the needs of the most vulnerable.
